Because he knows the culture and the language, forty-year-old Colonel Jerry Cohen is sent to Germany by the president of the United States to investigate a growing movement of Neo-Nazis. While he is in Germany, the rapture occurs, and Christians all over the world disappear, including the US president and vice president. Confusion reigns, but in the chaos, Jerry meets a man who leads him to the Lord; he becomes a born-again Christian.
US citizens blame Christians for the confusion caused by the rapture, and places of worship are being bombed—not just churches, but private homes in which groups of Christians meet. This includes Jerry’s own home, which is blown up with his wife and children inside.
Meanwhile, in Baghdad, Rafid Khalid, the dictator of Iraq, learns of a Russian plot against his county and seeks to retaliate. Amid the chaos of the rapture, the United States has fallen from the position of being a world power—and Rafid Khalid has filled the vacuum.
As a member of Army Intelligence, Jerry becomes involved with a dangerous mission, threatening not only his life, but that of many others who refuse to follow Rafid. Jerry must use all of his power and resources to stay alive and survive until Jesus Christ returns.
