Anyone who has studied spiritual gifts has struggled with questions: Where does the Bible talk about spiritual gifts? What are the specific spiritual gifts I could possibly have? If all the spiritual gifts are not for today, what is the rational for them not being for today? What is the explanation of each gift, so I can see if I might have it? These questions, along with many others, greatly contribute to the fact that very few Christians ever truly identify their spiritual gifts and use them effectively in ministry. Corey’s Mastering Spiritual Gifts presents a guide for believers to review and refresh their use and understanding of spiritual gifts. This manual is designed to create an atmosphere of credibility, value, and authority regarding spiritual gifts and their regular use for the believer. Its key objectives are to show which gifts are active in the church today, describe those gifts in the context of their characteristics and abuses, and provide each person an opportunity to begin identifying and using his or her gift or gifts. Corey’s Mastering Spiritual Gifts actively identifies spiritual gifts and then provides ongoing reinforcement and encouragement for using those gifts in the best possible way.
My interest in Spiritual Gifts started when I first got involved in discipleship years ago. In discipleship, the goal was to produce and re-produce mature believers that could ministry effectively in the power of the Holy Spirit and bring forth fruit. I believe that inevitably, the discipleship process must somehow incorporate the use of the Spiritual Gifts mentioned Romans, Corinthians and Ephesians. The question that everyone struggles with, is how? To this end, I decided to write what I call a transferable teaching manual on Spiritual Gifts. By transferable, I mean once I teach it to someone, they can know the subject for themselves and they can intern turn around and teach it to others. (II Timothy 2:2 principle) Anyone who has studied Spiritual Gifts has struggled with many of the following issues. Where does the Bible talk about Spiritual Gifts? What are the specific Spiritual Gifts I could possibly have? If all the Spiritual Gifts are not for today, what is the rational for them not being for today? What is the explanation of each gift, so I can see if I might have it? How can I know I have a Spiritual Gift? These and many other reasons are a great deal of the reason that very few Christians ever truly identify their Spiritual Gifts and use them effectively in ministry. I believe this transferable teaching manual on Spiritual Gifts is a refreshing study that seeks to answer and overcome these very questions that keep so many believers from finding and effectively using their Spiritual Gifts.
