Priscilla Boos knows what it is like to have her life suddenly turned upside down. She entered a dark, lonely place where she was gripped by debilitating fear. But somehow she found her way back—stronger, hopeful, and more faith-filled than ever before. In her inspirational memoir, Priscilla shares the story of her emotional journey through terminal illness with her husband, Bill, and her eventual return to a new life. Priscilla’s husband, Bill, was no slouch. Two years after they were married, he tackled a bank robber and held him until police arrived. Even so, when Bill began experiencing unusual symptoms in 2004, it sparked an unbelievably challenging journey for not only him, but Priscilla as well. Unprepared for the road ahead lined with pain, grief, and unexpected moments, Priscilla details how she eventually emerged a stronger, more self-confident person after Bill’s death, providing inspiration to others as she fights to rejoin the living, one small step at a time. Meet Me at the Bakery shares an inspirational story of one woman’s full-circle journey through the darkness of grief into the light of healing where she now lives joyfully anticipating new possibilities with the help of God’s love.
Sometimes life throws curves at you that you can’t (or wouldn’t want to) anticipate, and your entire world is rocked to its very core! What do you do when everything you’ve built comes crashing down around you? How do you handle having the “rug pulled right out from under you”, and entering the darkest, loneliest place gripped by debilitating, paralyzing fear? How can you find your way back? And back to what? ‘Cause life as you knew it is completely gone! I have been there, and I am back. Oh, life is different for sure, but it is again enjoyable. With the grace and love of God; the support of family, coworkers, and friends; and help from grief counseling, I have survived. I have not only survived, I have overcome! This is my story—the story of my personal journey with my husband’s (Bill’s) illnesses, my passage through the valley of the shadow of death, and my return to life. And, praise God, I have emerged stronger for it.
Priscilla Boos grew up in Long Island, New York, but relocated to Houston, Texas, in the early 1980s with her husband, Bill, and their two young children. Priscilla is a Certified Grief Recovery Specialist® through the Grief Recovery Institute® of Sherman Oaks, California. Now widowed, she lives in Katy, Texas.
This is one of the best books I have read in a long time. Mrs. Boos puts her heart and soul in this touching but also funny book. We praise our Lord that He inspired her to write this love story and how only He can get you through the dark deep valley.
