In a world where excess is the status quo, the opinion of others is the basis of self-confidence, and political correctness is expectation, many believers in Christ are losing touch with their own basic, foundational beliefs. Basic Christian principles are being sacrificed on the altar of appeasement as Church leaders seek to coexist with secularism. There are those who actively speak out against this hieratical practice in the Body of Christ, yet so many believers are being raised under social conformity. Far too many believers see Sacred Scripture as merely a collection of stories from long ago that do not have much meaning in modern cultures with our advanced technology, reasoning ability, and global understanding of culture. The rising tide of globalism, global religion, global economics, and global community has increasing prominence in the age we are living. Many believers in the Body of Christ are ill-equipped to confront globalism due to their lack of foundation. Yet despite all of this, those who do have their feet grounded in the Word of God let denominational differences, tradition, and a general sense of religion hinder them from reaching out to those who do not have a very strong foundation in the Christian faith, this too is a travesty. Our congregations are shrinking as believers lose their foundation! We have become so involved with a good presentation that appeals to the senses rather than the heart and to programs rather than the Spirit of God that we have made Church into a spiritual “fast food” stop. This does not build up the Body of Christ but leaves it malnourished with the attrition rate of believers reflects this sad state. Every day, people turn to psychics, mediums, horoscopes, and tarot card readers to find some sort of guidance in life, looking for a foundation. The Church is the last place they go because they are not being fed and grounded in scripture. Christians are trading a God lead life for direction of demons. It is time for the Body of Christ to rise up in the power we have in Jesus Christ and say, “enough is enough”. It is time for us to awake from our slumber, renounce the things which are unbiblical in our practices, and take our stand with Christ and not with the world system we are trying to appease. It is with this understanding that I was instructed to write this book, which contains some foundational beliefs that scripture teaches. It is not an exhaustive set of teachings, but rather a general explanation on which a believer can build, develop, and grow in. As I wrote this book, my prayer was always that it can and will be used to help train and instruct believers in the basic understanding of what it is to be a Christian. As you read this book, I encourage you to look into your own life and see where each subject applies to you. Also, at the beginning of each chapter is a list of scriptures that I used throughout my research, please look those up in your Bible as you go. I am hoping that each subject will cause you, the reader, to form questions which you can take to your spiritual leaders. Please do not take this on face value, but research and question it, that’s how we grow in the faith. May you be richly blessed in the knowledge that you are loved by God, that you are highly favored of the Lord, that you are the apple of His eye, and that you can do all things through Christ who strengthens you! Christopher Anderson was born and raised in Winchester, Kentucky. He has served in various music ministries. In 2003, he joined the US Marine Corps and served two deployments in Afghanistan. There, he helped establish a Flight Line Chapel service and a weekly Bible study group. His interests include studying the end times and spiritual warfare.
