There are guides to reaching physical fitness and those for reaching mental fitness—but there are very few books intended to help you reach spiritual fitness.

In Spiritual Basic Training, author Chris Benjamin does just that, offering a motivating spark to ignite righteous living for God’s glory. Benjamin provides a positive message full of the Holy Scriptures, so every thought comes from the Bible. New believers will find guidance on how to start building a spiritual relationship with God. To those who have already been believers, Spiritual Basic Training will get you back to center with God and push you to step out in conquering faith in Him. Creative “missions” will help everyone move in the direction of achieving a Spirit-filled, spiritually fit life. By the completion of Spiritual Basic Training, you will be building a quality life, with God at the center.

If you believe in God, the resurrection of Jesus Christ our Savior, and the power of the Holy Spirit in each of us, then without a doubt you must center yourself in the Lord for your salvation. Spiritual Basic Training can help lead the way. Remember, it is not only ourselves we can save by our faith and actions, but our families, our friends, and all of God’s children of the world.

“This is now bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh; she shall be called ‘woman,’
for she was taken out of man.  That is why a man leaves his father and mother and is united to his wife, and they become one flesh.“ Genesis 2:23-24 (NIV). The most important person we need enlist with us is our spouses. God has given us our soul mate to become one with forever.  Our spouses are who we are partnered with to battle against the corruption of the world together everyday.  It is imperative that the spiritual bond between our spouses is strengthening everyday.  They are our spiritual cheerleaders and vice versa. Invite our partners into our plan of spiritual growth and our plan to put God the center of our lives.  Truly, this is where we will make our relationship with each other forever flourish.  Take the time to communicate about where we are in our lives and where we want to go with them along side of us.  Timely and effective communication is key when we are trying to get our partners on the same path to righteousness.  Pray that the Lord will open the eyes of our spouses hearts to see the right direction to walk for His glory together with us.

MISSION:  We need our spiritual cheerleaders.

Priority number one in building our spiritual teams is connecting with our spouses, significant others, or whoever we have that is closest to us in our lives.  This is key.  Plan a conversation that invites them to be the most integral part of the spiritual team.  Our right hand person to share the joys and struggles of life with.  Be gentle, loving, and honest with them.  Most importantly be joyful with them because the Lord has given them into our lives to share in this journey.  Be ever encouraging to them and patient.  An encouraging word at the right moment can lead to hope, and hope to belief, and belief to transformation in God.
MISSION ACCOMPLISHED!

"Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers." Galatians 6:10 (NIV).  Pray for the Lord to show us a sign of how to give our gifts and talents to help all of His children in the world.  Be thoughtfully intent on keeping our eyes open for the opportunity to good to those in need.  Everyone one of us has a talent that can be used for an uplifting moment in a person’s life.  Use it!  Do not keep it hidden from those who would benefit from it.  It is a blessing from the Lord that we are good with tools, or athletic, or financially savvy, or good homemakers, or successful business owners.  God has made us uniquely wonderful in many different ways.  Let our talents do good for those who would benefit from God’s gifts to us.  Jesus Christ showed the world how to live a self sacrificing life for the good of all people.  How humbling is that thought?  Jesus loved everyone of God’s children so much that he laid down His life, even though we are sinners, He did so humbly for the benefit of all of us.  It is only right that we sacrifice our time and talents for the benefit of others as well.  The joy we will spread by our good works has the potential to reach across the world.  Start the chain reaction of good works for the right reason today.  Making God smile upon us and helping His children that need a hand up in life.

MISSION: Give back to our brothers and sisters of the world.

Start living a life of selfless service to the help of others.  By doing so, we will bring happiness to God, and that is worth our sacrifice alone.  Identify what it is that God

has individually blessed each one of us with to help others.  Now look for a need that can be filled by the gift God has given us.  Find a need, fill a need, and fix a need.  Use the talents God has given us to benefit His children and glorify Him forever.
MISSION ACCOMPLISHED!

“If God is for us, who can be against us?”  Romans 8:31 (NIV).  Each step we take to gain mental fitness will also provide us with the confidence that we need to endure every situation.  Small victories each day are what we need to build up our confidence.  Take each victory we achieve and hold on to it.  It can be as little as making it to work on time.  Having a good conversation with our spouses.  The children listened well today.  Whatever the victory is, hold onto each one and let them grow into righteous confidence in God.  Confidence is a great deterrent against stress in a negative situation.  First is the confidence in God that He is watching us and He will give us a righteous path to take.  The confidence that God will never give us more than we can handle.  The confidence that God is building our mental toughness every time we are tested.  The confidence in ourselves that we can adapt and overcome anything the world sends our way through the grace of Jesus Christ.  Remember to praise God in the good times as well as the tough, because He is preparing us for the future.  So be prayerful, be adaptive, be temperate, be reenergized, and be confident in all that we do to be mental fit.

MISSION: Confidently confident.

Victories!  Victories!  Victories!  Hold on to them tightly all day long.  We have won them by God’s good grace.  Start today and the make the choice to attack every trial in our lives with righteous confidence.   We know that God is with us so what do we have to fear?  Absolutely nothing!  Never let doubt drift into our thoughts of victory again.
MISSION ACCOMPLISHED!
