We are all familiar with the biography of the Son of God, Jesus Christ. Most of us learned about him through the stories told about and by him in the Bible. There are, however, other ways to learn about Jesus Christ, his life, and his love.

Rob Garnes’s A Perfect Him is a biography of Jesus Christ told through poetry. It begins with Old Testament prophecy and proceeds through his young life and introduction to the ministry. The poems conclude with his crucifixion, burial, and resurrection. Readers will also find a poetic study of the parables Christ used during his ministry.

A Perfect Him is relevant for everyone, no matter where they are in their spiritual walk with Christ. For one seeking Christ, the poems can be used as a guide, as the gospel is fully explained within the poems. For a new Christian, the poems may be used as a study resource in their developing journey. Finally, for the mature Christian, the poems offer a great devotional.

Sermon on the Mount

Luke 6 Matthew 5 through 7

Seeing the people who had gather around

It was time for the Lord to be heard

Standing above on the side of the mount

The truth was spoken in His words

“Be blessed those who's spirit is poor

The kingdom of heaven will be theirs

Blessed is he who's heart is pure

For God will answer their prayers

Blessed is he who suffer and hurt

I will be with you and comfort and feed

Blessings to those who's mercy is overt

They will be forgiven and freed

You will be called God's own child

Blessings to you when you struggle for peace

Blessed is he who is meek and mild

Your gifts God will increase

Blessed is he when righteousness you thirst

Satisfaction will come only through me

Blessings to you when for my sake you are cursed

The kingdom of heaven you will see

You must strive to stay in God's favor

Because you are the salt of the earth

But what is salt if it loses its flavor

Its just sand with little to no worth

You are the light of the world, let your life shine

So men will see greatness inside

The light within you will never decline

It will always serve as your guide

You must know and follow all that I say

The word will always be true

Don't pick and choose what you obey

As the scribes and Pharisees do

You were taught the scripture when you were young

You know the commandment “thou shall not kill”

But I will warn you that you must hold your tongue

Through words your heart will be revealed
