& n b s p ; & nbsp; Unlike most Westerners, Muslims are not averse to discussing religion. But I warn you: Be Prepared.
& n b s p ; & nbsp; Muslims might not know much about their own religion, as one Muslim remarked to me, but every Muslim that I have met is very familiar with the arguments against Christianity. It is important to be aware of these argument and understand a little of what you are up against when you attempt to reach out to Muslims.
& n b s p ; & nbsp; Muslims will tell you that they believe in the Torah, Psalms, Gospel, all the prophets found in the Bible, and that they honor Jesus highly. The only trouble is, they do not believe in our present Bible as it has been written. Nor do they believe that Jesus is the Son of God, or that He actually died on the cross. They claim that Jesus was “only” a prophet in the long line of 124,000 prophets. Thus the Christian’s standard approach of presenting the message of salvation, using the Bible and pointing to the Deity of Christ and His death and resurrection for our sins, is not effective from the outset.
& n b s p ; & nbsp; I will give you the typical arguments that Muslims raise against Christianity, in their own words, so that you can prepare yourself. Here is how some of their arguments go.
& n b s p;
1. & n b s p ; & n b s p ; & n b s p ; & n b s p ; & n b s p ; & n b s p ; & n b s p ; & nbsp; Jesus came as the Messiah (which is stated in the Qur’an), but he never said he was God. He was the way to God before Muhammad came, but after that, all Christians should become Muslims.
2. & n b s p ; & n b s p ; & n b s p ; & n b s p ; & n b s p ; & n b s p ; & n b s p ; & nbsp; We believe that Jesus was simply a prophet and not God’s son. He will come back and everyone will see which side he joins. I hope this happens in your lifetime so you can join our beautiful religion and see the true light.
3. & n b s p ; & n b s p ; & n b s p ; & n b s p ; & n b s p ; & n b s p ; & n b s p ; & nbsp; I believe that God is One and has never been or looked like a human. If anyone thinks of God as existing in human form, then he or she is a great blasphemer.
4. & n b s p ; & n b s p ; & n b s p ; & n b s p ; & n b s p ; & n b s p ; & n b s p ; & nbsp; Jesus never was crucified; the very thought is nonsense. If you tell me God sacrificed his only dear, unique son, then I ask you: Isn’t God great enough to be able to tell people what he requires, and delete their sins, without having to sacrifice his “dear son” and torturing him? The whole “sinner” thing makes no sense to me.
5. & n b s p ; & n b s p ; & n b s p ; & n b s p ; & n b s p ; & n b s p ; & n b s p ; & nbsp; You Christians are so blind that you believe that God cannot save his own son from being crucified. This is to say God has limitations, and is so weak that He let His son be humiliated and killed by humans. Anyone who has a limitation is weak and should not be called God. God has all the power. He is the one and only, and nothing is equal to Him.
6. & n b s p ; & n b s p ; & n b s p ; & n b s p ; & n b s p ; & n b s p ; & n b s p ; & nbsp; What happened to the people who were born and died before God decided to send His son only 2000 years ago? It seems that the Christian God is a poor planner and a late thinker--because it took Him thousands, if not millions of years to find a way of forgiving “the sins” of mankind.
7. & n b s p ; & n b s p ; & n b s p ; & n b s p ; & n b s p ; & n b s p ; & n b s p ; & nbsp; I would like to know how you Christians explain the term “justice” in light of the statement that “Jesus died in our place, for our sins.” Does this mean I will not be held accountable for the wrongdoings I commit during my lifetime?
8. & n b s p ; & n b s p ; & n b s p ; & n b s p ; & n b s p ; & n b s p ; & n b s p ; & nbsp; If Jesus shed his blood on the cross to save people from their sins, doesn’t this nullify the purpose of the Day of Judgment?
