When we were children in the Oklahoma hills, one of our pastimes was to pick the petals from a sunflower bloom or a daisy, while saying with each petal, “She loves me, she loves me not.” Thankfully, we don’t have to do those kinds of things to determine whether or not God loves us, because there is a way of knowing. That is through the knowledge gained by experiencing a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, His Son. How can we know? How can we confirm our experience in Christ? There are some ways we can know. Hopefully, some of these can be revealed in this attempt to describe a Christian Experience. During my more than fifty years in the ministry, I have heard many say they were not sure if they were saved, and I have seen others who claimed to be born again but denied it by their behavior. John makes it very clear in his writings, in chapter five, verse twelve. He just simply says if you have Christ, you’re saved; if you don’t, you aren’t.

Are you saved? Are you certain?

By Dorothy B. Seals

The history of the quaint panhandle town of Cottondale, Florida, comes to life in Where the Crossroads Meet, a collection of memories, photos, stories, and letters from Cottondale resident Dorothy B. Seals.

Established in the late nineteenth century, Cottondale started out as a quiet community where major train lines and two main roads crossed. But it soon developed into a bustling town with numerous businesses, banks, pharmacies, churches, and hotels. It also became an important farming community, particularly for cotton. At its heart, though, was its citizens’ desire to succeed. Even when fire struck and destroyed most of the town in 1928, this close-knit community worked together to start over.

Using interviews, letters, county records, photographs, and other official documents, Seals reconstructs the town’s past. She delves into the history of early settlers, important milestones, and Cottondale’s role during key events in American history. In addition, Seals shares her own memories of growing up in Cottondale, being a Sunday school teacher, wife, mother, and even a city commissioner.

Whimsical and entertaining, Where the Crossroads Meet is a wonderful look into the past of this Florida community as well as American life during the first half of the twentieth century.

God is the perfect father, and you can improve your parenting style by looking to Him. He sets the example for how to be a provider, protector, teacher, and disciplinarian.

This guidebook to Christian parenting explores the attributes of God a parent should try to emulate. It also brings to light four ways that Jesus grew in Luke 2:52, developing intellectually, physically, spiritually, and socially. As a parent, you can help your children follow in their savior’s footsteps.

Just as the Lord disciplines those He loves, parents must discipline their children. Heaven on Earth carefully describes biblical principles to help parents provide the environment children need. It offers proper and healthy techniques to aid parents in leading children to honor and respect not only their parents but ultimately the Lord. What’s more, it draws a line between appropriate and abusive actions to control children’s behavior. Parents can proactively develop a disciplinary plan to guard against crossing these boundaries.

Parents face many challenges to lead and guide the family in godly ways, and many struggle with the feelings of anger and failure. Find encouragement and strength through the power of God’s Word and the strength of the Holy Spirit, and get practical help in facing rebellious and wayward children.

You can be inspired to overcome any obstacle, and raise your children for the glory of God.

The Gospel of Matthew is the first book in the New Testament. It truly is a “teaching” Gospel. It serves as an important resource for learning about the life and teachings of Jesus Christ. The Apostles needed this teaching so that they could effectively form the foundation upon which the future Christian church would be built. They needed this teaching to obey the commandment which Jesus gave them: “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything that I have commanded you.” (Matt.28:19-20)

Using an easy-to-understand format, The Gospel of Matthew offers an in-depth study that reveals why Christ’s presence forever changed the world. Author Carol Walker explores the true nature of Jesus, his mission on Earth, and his ministry. From his birth to his death and resurrection, Walker recounts Jesus’ life and, in so doing, reveals how Jesus fulfilled Old Testament prophecy.

Walker presents thirty-four lessons that cover the twenty-eight chapters of Matthew. Each chapter is summarized to provide historical and cultural background information and a question and answer section presents an opportunity for further discussion. Lessons include the important work of the Holy Spirit, the ministry of John the Baptist, the Sermon on the Mount, Jesus’ interpretation of the Ten Commandments, and much more.

The Gospel of Matthew presents a comprehensive study for individuals or groups. If you’re seeking to expand your knowledge of Jesus’ life and teachings and want to deepen your faith, let this be your guide.
